The second sacral chakra, as indicated by its name, is located in the sacral region. It opens towards the front as well as to the back. Usually, the front part of the trunk is associated to everything that is emotional in us, whereas the back part to issues of will and motivation.

The Sanskrit name of this center is Swadhisthana. You can follow the link to get more information about the other properties of this center, such as color, elements, crystals, planets and metals. Here I will discuss only one important psychological aspect related to our sex energy.

This energy center, to a higher degree the base chakra, is connected to our sexuality. It makes us what we are, male or female. If the person is weak, and without energy, one of the reasons may be a blocked sacral chakra.

If the sexual energy is blocked the very love is blocked. You cannot experience true love without the excitement you feel in this region of the body. The same holds true for our creativity.

We cannot express true creativity without energy. If we suppress our energy, we suppress everything, love, truth, creativity, inspiration. Too often we have heard that spirituality has nothing to do with sexuality. This is simply not true. Only the misuse of this energy, which often is a logical consequence of its suppression, is what is wrong.

So the energy that starts in our Root chakra, should flow through our second Sacral center, up though our solar plexus chakra, only to be transformed to love in Anahata, and joy in Vishuddha - our troat energy center.

That is why Swadhisthana is so important chakra.
