The Vishudha chakra is situated in the area of the troat. This is a center of cleansing. On the physical level it is connected to the vocal cords and it is a center of expression. This chakra is connected to the element of Akasha, and is considered intellectual energy center.

Vishudha is a center of communication and affects our willing, resolution and possibility of making choice. It has to do with the process of creation on the mental level, accepting the world and adapting to it.

The consequences of unbalanced fifth chakra vishudha are the following:

inability to express feelings and needs,

inability to express one’s own attitude,

overprotection directed towards other people,

inability to cry, or grieve.

Blocked Vishudha chakra is associated with stage fright, problems with the Thyroidea, and headaches due to stiffness in the upper part of the neck.
