Location of the seven chakras

The 7 chakras of our body are arranged in such a way as to ascend starting from the first root chakra up to the seventh crown chakra, which is located at the highest possible point at the top of our head. Out of the seven chakras we cannot single out any particular energy center since they all work together aiming at creating balance, peace, proper functioning, and harmony in our microcosm.

  • The First Root Chakra Muladhara is located at the base of the spine and is closest to the earth. This chakra is the seat of the three most important energy channels, ida, pingala and sushumna. In total there are over 144000 nadis or energy channels, but these three are most important. These nadis are usually not active and therefore in a dormant state. But when the kundalini shakti, which is the latent spiritual energy of enlightenment, is awaken and refined, the human consciousness starts to evolve.
  • The lower four chakras are responsible for our emotions. The second sacral chakra is located about 4 cm below navel. It rules over the basic feeling and also is responsible for our sexuality.
  • The third solar plexus chakra is responsible for our functioning in a group of people. It has to do with feelings of control and whether or not we feel self respect. This energy center is located below the sternum.
  • The fourth heart chakra is responsible for everything that has to do with love. When it is opened we feel love, we are compassionate, loving and friendly. The heart chakra is located in the chest.

The upper chakras are responsible for creating the right bodily processes.

  • The fifth throat chakra governs the personal self-expression and speech. The great orators have mastered this chakra to a great extent. If not balanced, there can occur problems in personal expression, Telling lies can easily block this chakra.
  • The third eye chakra is found in the center between the eyes. The third eye chakra helps us to see the supernatural world, the world of intuitions and imaginations.
  • The seventh crown chakra also known as Sahasrara chakra is the center of wisdom and being at one with the Universe. It is located at the top of the head and is the most subtle of all the chakras. This energy center is related to pure non disturbed consciousness, and this is one that all other chakras emanate.

Each of the seven main chakras has a distinct definite purpose in the body. The location of the chakras is indicative to the task that each of them is responsible for. The vibrations of the chakras indicates the body how to act in response to the given situation. Without our chakras, our bodies would be empty and we would not be able to create balance in our lives.
